Hot Springs Getaway

Hello friends!
Can you believe it's already March?! I absolutely adore cold weather so part of me is forlorn that winter is coming to an end; however, the other part of me is joyfully anticipating spring time! I love taking advantage of the endless blooms and lush greenery before Texas summer hits and fries everything to a crisp. Here's to hoping (and wishing) this year will have a mild summer!
This past weekend, a group of friends and I made the 5 hour trek up to Hot Springs, Arkansas for a weekend getaway filled with crystal mining, natural hot springs mineral baths, shopping, eating and celebrating friendship. We visited Coleman's Mining, which allows you to dig through dirt from the mine all day for just $10 -- what a deal! -- and I managed to take ZERO pictures of the mine because I was so excited about digging up Earth's treasures. Ah, the struggle of wanting to photograph everything but also be present in the moment!
Hot Springs has multiple historical bath houses, aptly named Bathhouse Row, that were built from 1892-1923. The bath houses are owned by the National Parks Service and have been converted to not only bath houses but also luxury spas. The mixture of classical, mid century and modern architecture creates an incredible hodgepodge of old juxtaposed with new...a photographer's dream! There were also a surplus of healing crystal shops, niche boutiques and even a historic brothel-turned-dive-bar that doubled as a live music venue called Maxine's.
Molly Robinson (@mollyruthroolz on Instagram), who organized the trip, is the fantastic hairstylist pictured below with the mauve hair color and has been a great friend of mine for some time now. We are bridesmaids in each others upcoming weddings and have similar views on aesthetics and styling. I will be photographing her engagements in the upcoming months so this trip was a wonderful opportunity to discuss wedding ideas, bridesmaid duties, snap a few portraits and relax!

I honestly can't wait to return to Hot Springs; it was such an inspiring and relaxing getaway that fueled my creative soul. Looking forward to all the upcoming projects I have in the works!
XOXO
